Ms. CAiro's Third Grade
Working in the class garden isn't always easy work, but we always have fun! We are getting close to harvesting a few vegetables! Thanks to everyone who has donated supplies and time to make the garden so wonderful!
I just realized the pictures from our first farm garden trip never posted to the website, and were stuck in a draft on my website. I am SO sorry for the delay! Thank you to Mr. Matt, and all of the wonderful parent volunteers that have come out to help. This is our last week in the garden, and I highly recommend you take a trip out there! We garden from 2:15-3:15 First Week: Last week's visit: Our specials schedule is changing in May!
This Thursday, April 30th, from 2:15-3:15 is our last afternoon in the farm garden. If you haven't made it out to the garden with our class, this is your last chance! We have such a great time, and learn so much information about where our food comes from! Beginning the week of May 4th, our specials schedule will be as follows: Monday 1:40-2:15 Painting/Handwork (alternating weeks) 2:15-3:15 Guitar with Mr. Reedy Tuesday 1:15-3:15 Yoga on the beach & Surfing! (I am unsure which special we will be doing first; we will be on the beach with Mrs. Stetson's class!) Wednesday 1:40-2:15 Nature Walk 2:15-3:15 Guitar with Mr. Reedy Thursday 1:40-2:15 Class Garden 2:15-3:15 Woodworking with Mr. Pete Roll!!! Friday 1:15-2:15 Spanish 2:15-3:15 Music/ASL Thank you for preparing our supplies for Kumihimo, Mr. Pete Roll & Mrs. Laurie Roll. You are truly amazing!!This week, the children learned about the ancient Japanese art of braiding, Kumihimo! The discs will be kept in the classroom, but can be easily made at home. The children will be practicing this art in the classroom, as they will be teaching 200+ people at our upcoming May Festival! This is one of the handwork activities I learned at the Public Waldorf School Conference in California back in January, and the activity I taught at the Parent Education night back in February. I've attached my hand outs from the parent ed night.
On Wednesday, we went outside and sat under a beautiful tree. The children wrote stories about what Ms. Cairo would be doing on her trip to the Bahamas..their stories were absolutely adorable!
When we were done writing, we all sat on the concrete and soaked up the sun; pretending we were in the Bahamas. Ha! As I am sure you have heard, Ms. Cairo was FULL of pranks on April Fool's Day! I absolutely loved seeing all of the fake bugs and critters in the children's lunch boxes, too. The children were such good sports about my broccoli cake pops and brownies (brown e's), that we enjoyed popsicles on the playground. I hope you enjoy the most hilarious video I think I have ever seen in my whole life. This post is very late, but we had such a great time decorating Dr. Hall's car last week for her birthday surprise!! We love you and appreciate everything that you do your our school and especially our class!! Sorry for interrupting the education committee meeting with a song...(: AND sorry for stealing your keys to throw balloons and cards in your car(: (The kids thought it was a hoot) |
