Ms. CAiro's Third Grade
A quick picture with some silly cows, and a very moving message from author and experienced Waldorf educator, Jack Petrash. If I had to choose four words to describe the 2016 National Conference for Public Waldorf Education, they would be affirming, enlightening, inspiring, and blessed. The conference was affirming in that I truly believe I am providing the best whole-child, Waldorf-inspired education that I am capable of in this point of my teaching career. In seeing the work of the children and teachers at another Public Waldorf School, I realized that Seaside aligns very closely in all that we do. Though we still have a journey ahead of us, I can say without a doubt that we are on the most-clear path to reach our school’s potential. The conference was enlightening because I learned a plethora of valuable knowledge that I can immediately take back to my classroom. Master Waldorf Teachers and professionals shed light on the “why” behind why we teach the way we do. They shared insight into simple techniques that will help our children learn and become more successful in the classroom. Fellow professionals shared stories of success and difficulties in the classroom, and how they managed to get to their current place in their professional journey. I left feeling inspired because I now have a clear picture of areas I need to improve upon, and how to do so in a beautiful and meaningful way. I was reassured that Seaside is providing (arguably) the best education to the children of our community, and inspired to continue to hard work it takes to carry out the vision of Seaside to its fullest. Most importantly I came home feeling so blessed. I am blessed to be surrounded by some of the most wonderful people I have ever met, who all have the interest of their children in the forefront of their minds and their hearts. I am blessed to work with a staff of uplifting individuals who support each other both inside the classroom (professionally) and outside of the classroom (personally). We, children and staff alike, are blessed to be led by a learning leader who is there to teach us, encourage us, and remind us of why we are here in those times of struggle. Our staff is truly a family, and I truly feel more now than ever that our Seaside family will make a difference in the lives of the children in our little community.

On Friday, the children took it upon themselves to have a fairy house building contest! They also decided it would be boy versus girls. I was a judge, along with a few other children who were assisting both teams. The boys won best fairy house "vacation spot", as their fairy house was complete with a rope swing, diving board, and pool. The girls won best fairy house "hotel", because it included a variety of rooms with lots of relaxation spots. This was SO much fun to watch the children create! They are truly experiencing the joys of childhood to the fullest. It brings me such joy to see the children working and playing together in such peace and harmony! My favorite pictures are of the children showing off their fairy houses when they were completed. They complimented each other's ideas, and truly admired one another's creations. My teacher heart was so happy <3
Some of the beautiful things we saw on our charter school visit in California! These are mostly from 4th and 5th grade classes, with some 3rd and 7th grades as well. This trip was truly an experience I will NEVER forget!! These are the moments when the children say "Ms. Cairo, will you take my picture for the website?!" The children had the wonderful opportunity during the second nine weeks to work in the garden with Mr. Matt Rogers of Palmetto Organics! In most of these pictures, the children are playing with the caterpillars they "adopted" from the garden! A few weeks ago, the children learned a true lesson in patience, and just how tricky it can be to teach something new to another person! We had such a wonderful time in Ms. Anderson's Kindergarten Class with her sweet friends. I hope to continue our class bonding in the near future! Maezie and Maya created scissor holders to tell to fellow Seasiders! Love these little entrepreneurs!
Here's the newsletter for the week of January 19th!
I absolutely adore these littles! Thank you for sharing them with me! I am looking forward to a new year with each of these sweeties and their wonderful families. :)
Learning about holidays and celebrations around the world was so much fun. Not only did we make fun crafts to help us remember prominent aspects of each celebration, we learned the history of, traditions, and customs of others.
Thank you SO much for the books, Mrs. Benites!!! |
