Ms. CAiro's Third Grade
A quick picture with some silly cows, and a very moving message from author and experienced Waldorf educator, Jack Petrash. If I had to choose four words to describe the 2016 National Conference for Public Waldorf Education, they would be affirming, enlightening, inspiring, and blessed. The conference was affirming in that I truly believe I am providing the best whole-child, Waldorf-inspired education that I am capable of in this point of my teaching career. In seeing the work of the children and teachers at another Public Waldorf School, I realized that Seaside aligns very closely in all that we do. Though we still have a journey ahead of us, I can say without a doubt that we are on the most-clear path to reach our school’s potential. The conference was enlightening because I learned a plethora of valuable knowledge that I can immediately take back to my classroom. Master Waldorf Teachers and professionals shed light on the “why” behind why we teach the way we do. They shared insight into simple techniques that will help our children learn and become more successful in the classroom. Fellow professionals shared stories of success and difficulties in the classroom, and how they managed to get to their current place in their professional journey. I left feeling inspired because I now have a clear picture of areas I need to improve upon, and how to do so in a beautiful and meaningful way. I was reassured that Seaside is providing (arguably) the best education to the children of our community, and inspired to continue to hard work it takes to carry out the vision of Seaside to its fullest. Most importantly I came home feeling so blessed. I am blessed to be surrounded by some of the most wonderful people I have ever met, who all have the interest of their children in the forefront of their minds and their hearts. I am blessed to work with a staff of uplifting individuals who support each other both inside the classroom (professionally) and outside of the classroom (personally). We, children and staff alike, are blessed to be led by a learning leader who is there to teach us, encourage us, and remind us of why we are here in those times of struggle. Our staff is truly a family, and I truly feel more now than ever that our Seaside family will make a difference in the lives of the children in our little community.
