Ms. CAiro's Third Grade
Wow! What an exciting week we've had! I am so proud of all 18 children. They are really grasping our daily rhythm and showing their true kindness to others! Happy Birthday to our wonderful friend Elijah Brooks! We are so happy you joined our school this year. We are grateful you are in our class! The classroom is full of joy and learning! We have hit the ground running! Can't forget about outdoor creative play & picnic lunch!

To remain consistent with a new, school-wide policy, I will no longer be sending home Friday Folders. Instead, I will be sending home a TUESDAY folder! In this folder, I will share general class happenings as well as individualized communication. I will give you a quick overview of the skills we will be practicing during the week. I will also share if/what you can be doing at home.
Again, no more Friday Folders. Your child will not receive a folder this friday. Please look for your child's folder this TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2. (: Sorry for the confusion! Please note this schedule is only for Ms. Cairo's class. Mrs. Stetson has a different schedule. I will be looking for a more permanent place on the website to post this schedule, but I have the free version so it won't let me add any more pages. Bare with me as I organize and familiarize myself with this website and it's quirky components!
I would also LOVE to have someone volunteer to read to/watch the children during lunch time (12:20-12:40) beginning next week. Some days we are indoors, some days we are outdoors. I would really appreciate volunteers on Wednesdays and Thursdays, as those are the days there are no breaks built into the schedule. There will be a school wide ONLINE volunteer sign up sheet coming soon . Please be on the look out for the link!I will post here when the website is up and running. SPECIALS BEGIN TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND. MONDAY 1:40-2:25 Surfing OR Painting (Surfing will be in October and March) 2:30-3:25 Yoga TUESDAY 1:40-2:25 Spanish (Ms. Fields) 2:30-3:25 Music (Ms. Tyndall) WEDNESDAY 1:40-2:25 Singing Games (Led by Ms. Cairo) 2:30-3:25 Flute/Recorder (Led by Ms. Cairo) THURSDAY 1:40-2:25 Gardening (Led by Ms. Cairo) 2:30-3:25 Gardening (Led by Ms. Cairo) FRIDAY 1:40-2:25 Handwork (Led by Mrs. Sloan) 2:30-3:15 American Sign Language (Ms. Michelle) Below you will see our gold mining crew!! I hope they strike rich on our beautiful school campus(; Trevor was our mining boss, Wyatt was backup boss, and Gabrielle was backup backup boss (backup boss number 2). Love these kids!
We have been practicing our learning stations this week. These will eventually become our literacy stations! For the time being, we are just practicing the transitions and working together in groups. This is the time of day I will be working with small groups and differentiating instruction to be sure your child's learning is based on his/her individual learning needs. Ask your child what his/her favorite station is! DAILY EMAILS
Our school day is jam-packed with learning and fun activities! If you email me during school hours, I will not respond to you until after 4pm that day. That being said, if you have any pertinent information that you need to share with me during the school day, please be sure to email Ms. Bencomo at [email protected] and she will deliver the message to me directly. Please do not email me with your child's dismissal changes during the day - they will not be read!! FAMILY CHORES Please click the 'more' tab and then the 'family chores' tab to view descriptions and calendars for family chores. If you do not see these tabs, please click the schedules tab. I was having technical difficulties...on the editing mode, I view one thing and something different with the direct link. I apologize! I think I am overloading the system with updates to my site..ha! I will also be sending home a hard copy of the calendars this Friday in your child's Friday folder. If you have any questions or do not wish to be part of our family chores rotation, please contact me at [email protected]. UPDATE 8/26
I am so thrilled to announce that the Witte family (Peyton) will be our room family for this year! YAY! Thank you to Brandy Witte for volunteering you and your family's time to this job. So excited to work with you! For all of the wonderful parents who volunteered, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I am sure the Witte family will be happy to have your help! Please contact Brandy Witte at [email protected] if you'd like to help! I've had a few moms who have offered to be our classroom room mom... This year, I would like to have a 'room family' instead. I want the wonderful dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents in our community to be involved, too! On that note...are there any families who would like to volunteer as our room family? (: Please send me an email! I would love for our room family to be in charge of pooling money for supplies for our classroom bug spray making. (This was something discussed at our parent meeting on Thursday evening). My plan is to send home the materials for bug spray every other weekend (we will make this once per week if I see we are going through more bug spray than one bottle per two weeks). Please let me know if this is something you are interested in!! I just wanted to share a quick thank you with all of my students' parents. I am so thankful for all of your support so far this year! Thank you for your kind words, kind emails, and wonderful donations to our classroom. I appreciate everything you are doing for our little class family!
PS- I hope you received an apple on Thursday at parent night! I tried to send one home with the children whose parents were unable to make it-but I know some parents snuck in and may not have seen them!! Promised the kids I would post this AWESOME grasshopper who was walking around on my arm for about ten minutes. When we put him on the wreath outside, he stayed in a nice flower for quite a while. What a great way to start our morning!
This is a hand game we learned at our Waldorf Training in Kentucky this summer. It was definitely a staff favorite! I can't believe it took us until today to play with our children. I will list the words under the video in case it is hard to hear. BEWARE! THIS SONG WILL BE STUCK IN YOUR HEAD FOREVER! (The youtube video is unlisted on Youtube.com) I thought I heard an old man say, John Kanaka Naka too la ay.
Today, today is a sailing day, John Kanaka Naka too la ay. Too la ay oh too la ay, John Kanaka Naka too la ay. We're outward bound from 'Frisco Bay, John Kanaka Naka too la ay. We're outward bound at break of day, John Kanaka Naka too la ay Too la ay oh too la ah, John Kanaka Naka too la ay It's weevily meat and moldy bread, John Kanaka Naka too la ay It's two months out, you'd wish you're dead, John Kanaka Naka too la ay Too la ay oh too la ah, John Kanaka Naka too la ay |
