Ms. CAiro's Third Grade
We have a fabulous yoga teacher this year, Ms. Walker! She is a former kindergarten teacher and is a wonderful yoga teacher. The children absolutely LOVED yoga outside on Monday! We are so happy to have this peaceful activity back into our rhythm this year!!
The children worked on painting the sun and the wind on Monday. Please enjoy a sneak peak into their work(:

Incase you hadn't hear, the WONDERFUL and TALENTED Ms. Sloan is our handwork teacher this year! Last week, the children four-finger knitted long pieces, and sewed them together to make gorgeous flowers. Although their first flower will be kept at school, you will definitely have a chance to see them in person (hint hint, end of the 9 weeks student showcase, hint hint!) If your child's picture is not below, he/she is still finishing up! Check back this weekend for more pictures(: Last Friday on our nature hike, we used (almost) all of our senses (smell, sight, touch, hear) to enjoy and learn about our beautiful school's campus. We loved this nature hike! I think the children and I can agree we will love the nature hikes even more when it cools off another 10 degrees or so(: We could have stayed out there all day if it wasn't so hot! The children LOVED sketching the outdoors! Finn was so proud of this! Such a creative mind. I could have watched him build and create all afternoon! This week, we are practicing identifying even and odd numbers. I have invited Even Steven and Odd Todd into the classroom to help! The children seem to love these two! We have practiced sorting into even/odd groups with everything-buttons, natural materials collected outside by the children, and even the items in their lunch boxes!
Tuesday was our first day wearing rain boots! We had to capture the moment. Please enjoy these pictures of us laughing and trying to stand still long enough for a picture. Thanks to Ms. Anjelica for taking the picture, and Ms. Sanders standing by enjoying the moment<3
I would like to start off by saying-there are so many scientists in second grade this year!!! We are learning about the different parts of a seed this week in science! We put our lima beans in plastic bags with wet paper towels last Thursday. The children were curious if it mattered whether or not the beans would grow better or worse if they were pre-soaked. We each made two bean bags; one with beans pre-soaked and one with dry beans. The children have practiced making observations about these beans the past few days. We have learned all about mold (; Today we transplanted the beans into cups! |
